Gazing into the Southern California social spectrum

So....

Can you believe it happened?
Of course.
Of course, in this day and age this sort of thing would happen.


Imagine this:
It's Monday afternoon and my fiance and I have absolutely NOTHING better to do with our lives than clean the WHOLE apartment. However, in the midst of seperating my "skinny, pre-pregnancy" clothes and my wonderfully adorable "fat pants and maternity shirts" the census beareau comes a-knockin' on our door. Mind you, this is like the sixth time in the past two months....(I was putting off the survey ;D) Anyhow, my fiance who is of both hispanic and caucasion ethnic background answers the door and is filling out this mindless survey for the guy. At the end of the survey, the agent looks at my man and says "Although I understand most people don't appreciate this question it's policy. I'm going to have to ask you to choose a different racial background in order to make this survey count. The Census does not consider people of Hispanic or Latino background to be a valid race for the census" 

ARE YOU KIDDING ME????

How on earth could you be a person with audacity to walk around door-to-door in Southern California of ALL places and tell people you need them to complete this survey which is "mandatory by law" and then tell them they need to identify with a different ethnic background in order to be valid?? I, myself, am of Spanish, Irish and Russian descent, I'll admit it. I'm a grade-A white girl, but I was completely outraged by this. Especially knowing that my son will be able to identify with both when he gets older, good thing too, considering he wouldn't be considered "valid". I believe he would be PLENTY valid, thank you very much. This state was founded on the backs of both Native Americans and Hispanics and Latinos. I just couldn't contain my frustration for this. The whole situation definitely left a bad taste in my mouth....


until I went to Taco Bell for one of their new Strawberry Margaritas of course. :)

How it all began...

Long story short....

A little girl, pregnant at 21 got bored at work after hours of sifting through various links on her quest to find "the  ultimate cool scam free online job". After finding nothing, she decided to go on her own journey to become an internet celebrity.

Her name? Katya Sin.

Now, I can't tell you exactly what my plans are for this blog. What I can tell you is that my life is seemingly unsatisfying and needed a creative outlet. But, hey...doesn't everybody's?
Im currently working a time sucking job that allows to me to be essentially a "Glorified Babysitter", taking care of many different children from all backgrounds both social and economical for a whole week to not only drain me of my dignity but use me as their particular target to drive up the wall.

Now, you're probably thinking....does this chick honestly think that this is going to make her famous? The answer is no. No, I do not. However, I would like to believe that by creatively helping those around me be heard that I will somehow make an impact.

I strongly support the funding and education for suicide prevention as well as treatment. This also goes for eating disorders, self-mutilation, addiction and any other "self-esteem" issue anybody might have.
I am in NO WAY qualified to deem myself as a "personal shrink". I am simply someone who has lived through my own trials and tribulations and wishes to share my story and help others.

If I can have fun along the way? Awesome.
